Although this is not made in the USA, it is a good pan. The iron graining is larger than the older one I have, but it works. I use it on the grill and for upside-down cakes. It's an item that will give you years of service. It doesn't seem to take the seasoning as well as my old one, but I hope it improves with age. It seems smaller than my old one of the same supposed size, but not by much. All in all, it's a good value. It is not as cured as my other but I needed it to make corn bread. It works great.I absolutely love my new cast iron pan. Does it have a few flaws... absolutely! But I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and I did buy mine from the warehouse. If I was expecting it to be perfect, I would have coughed up more money. The pan is made of typical thickness and weight, the shape is normal, but the inside bottom was not very smooth and would take some conditioning. for my uses as an indirect plate in my charcoal kamado grill on the spider, it works great, I just cut the handle off. It catches drips and can withstand a LOT of heat so works for me.Great product 2nd time buyingIt's not the size I really needed, but that's my fault. It does require rather elaborate seasoning (several hours worth) which someone familiar with using new iron kitchenware would know but I did not think of. Should be mentioned.Bought this for making "Dutch Babies"...cast iron gives the best results! Just to note, this pan is a bit smaller than my other 8" pans...8" from the outside of the little pour spouts, about a 7 inch interior. Casting is a bit coarse, but will be fine with use. A very nice size for what I needed.I was really excited to get my first cast iron pan, but when it came it was seriously discolored. It says it was already preseasoned but just to be on the safe side I seasoned it again, but when I put it in the oven to finish it, I smelled burning plastic like there was a film on it. I took it out of the oven and the discoloration on it was either wax or plastic. My oven was all smokey and my fire alarm went off :( really not happy about that.Pro: very level surface. That was kewl.Con: what even thoSolid kit delivery one week later than promised.I bought this pan specifically for one task, making 'personal-sized' cornbread. As you can see from the photo I'm a fan of cast iron in the more 'modern' shapes for general purpose cookery but when it comes to cornbread you need the 'old-fashioned' shape to achieve the deep sides and really poofy results.Doing a batch in my trusty 10- or 12-inch traditionally-shaped pans meant having to make a massive amount and since cornbread has never been the best at keeping past a few hours (although cornbread pudding and stuffings can manage to consume a lot of surplus), I went looking for this scaled down size. For under $14 at the time of this writing it fits the task perfectly for great price and as you can see I get great souffle action from the pan (it's two eggs for that size recipe).Top dimension is eight inches, bottom dimension six inches so for OTHER uses, it might not be particularly practical given the limited real estate. There's enough butter in my recipe I've not had to bother with any additional seasoning techniques. Released even on the first bake.Happy Cornbread-ing out there Amazon.Pros:- Almost the perfect size for me. Can easily cook a burger, 3 egg omelette, some breakfast sausages, and could cook bacon strips if they are cut in half.- Fits really nicely on an MSR Whisperlite.- CheapCons:- Smaller than expected. Maximum inside diameter is about 7.25 inches. Only the maximum exterior dimension over the "ears" is 8 inches as advertised.- Made in China; The casting quality is poor and it came covered in a funky substance that looked like coagulated rust inhibitor spray. Do they not understand this will be used for cooking? Not cool!Verdict:- I wish it had an 8" inside diameter.- I should have spent $15 more and bought something made in Canada or the USA.Was sceptical buying this pan considering the price, but I bought it anyway. Its heavy cast and you can't compare it to more expensive pan when it's a fraction of the cost. All in all I'm happy with it. I did a first season then took some steel wool to it then did a second season. Within a few cooks it's turning a nice black. The worst purchase I ever made on Amazon. It became rusty after a single use. Also food always stick no matter how long you heat it before hand or how much butter/oil in it.
