Description

Tony Stark is Iron Man: Technological visionary, wealthy playboy, unparalleled engineer and armored Avenger. But in one terrifying instant, his greatest invention becomes his greatest mistake. The lethal techno virus Extremis is out in the wild and out for grabs to the highest bidder. Introducing the Circle, a mysterious high-tech brotherhood of mech-knights, as Tony's hunt for the rogue Extremis Units takes him to the island of New Camelot. It's up to Tony to contain Extremis, and that means creating a new suit of armor. Collecting Iron Man Vol.6 #1-6.

This collection picks up some threads from the famous "Extremis" storyline. To its credit, the story even starts off strong. But then things just start falling into place much too easily. Situations and interesting ideas that really should have been expanded are breezed through in a few pages. Gillen does seem to have a plan in mind for Tony as a character, but there really doesn't seem to be much payoff to it. At the end of the day it's just a decent Iron Man story and nothing more.Greg Land's art is what we've come to expect from him. That might be good or bad depending on your tastes. I have no strong feelings about him one way or the other so him doing the art here doesn't have much influence on my rating. As I said, this is a fairly run of the mill Iron Man story. I'm glad I borrowed this from a library. If I'd paid for it I'd feel let down.
